RAMI’S RACE 5K/10K Honors Rami’s Memory and Raises More Than $15,000

RAMI’S RACE 5K/10K brought the Michigan community together on August 15, 2026, for a meaningful day of remembrance, raising more than $15,000 in support of Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.

Organized by Razan Shams in memory of her brother Rami, who passed away from stomach cancer at just 22 years old, the community-led fundraiser united participants, donors, and supporters around a shared commitment to honoring his legacy and advancing progress against the disease.

Following the event, Razan shared a heartfelt reflection on its success and the meaningful connections made throughout the day:

“We want to express our deepest thanks for your partnership, guidance, and support. We greatly appreciate everything you’ve done for us. Our event was an incredible success! We raised over $15,000 and truly honored Rami’s memory. We hold onto the hope that continued research will soon lead to a cure. One of the most touching moments of the day was meeting a stomach cancer survivor who ran the 5k. He mentioned he was planning to travel all the way to Arizona because he couldn’t find a support event in Michigan, so finding our race meant the world to him. May every cancer patient find a cure, and may Debbie’s Dream Foundation achieve all of its vital goals.” — Razan Shams, RAMI’S RACE Organizer

DDF extends its heartfelt appreciation to Razan, the event organizers, participants, sponsors, donors, and everyone who helped make RAMI’S RACE a success. Community-led efforts like this demonstrate how honoring a loved one’s memory can inspire meaningful action, strengthen connections, and support progress against stomach cancer.

RAMI’S RACE was independently organized by members of the community and benefited Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.
