The Great CDH1 Debate: Surgery or Surveillance? Understanding Your Options for Managing Hereditary Stomach Cancer Risk webinar featured Drs. Jeremy L. Davis and Monika Laszkowska.
Dr. Jeremy L. Davis is a Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Davis earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, completed his General Surgery residency at Indiana University, and went on to complete fellowships in Surgical Oncology Research and Immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute and Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Prior to joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Davis served as Surgeon-in-Chief of the NIH Clinical Center and was a surgical oncologist and Associate Research Physician at the National Cancer Institute. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in hereditary diffuse gastric cancer, CDH1-associated cancers, and gastric cancer prevention. Through his clinical care, research, and leadership, Dr. Davis has helped advance the treatment of patients with gastric cancer and improve outcomes for families at increased genetic risk.
Dr. Monika Laszkowska, is an Assistant Attending Gastroenterologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Laszkowska earned her medical degree from Columbia University and completed both her Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. She also holds a master’s degree in Patient-Oriented Research from Columbia University. Her clinical practice and research focus on the prevention, early detection, and surveillance of gastrointestinal cancers, particularly stomach cancer and hereditary cancer syndromes. An internationally recognized investigator with more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Laszkowska is committed to advancing innovative screening strategies and improving outcomes for patients at increased risk of gastric cancer.
