September 9, 2026: Understanding Gastroesophageal Cancer: A Patient and Community Symposium
Hosted in collaboration with Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital, this patient and community symposium connected people affected by gastroesophageal cancer with leading experts for an evening of education focused on understanding diagnosis, treatment, research, and supportive care.
Chaired by Raghav Sundar, MD, PhD, the program covered early detection and diagnosis, surgery and treatment options, clinical trials and emerging therapies, nutrition, wellness, and supportive care. The symposium also centered the patient experience through personal perspectives and an “Ask the Experts” discussion, giving attendees an opportunity to hear directly from specialists and members of the gastroesophageal cancer community.
Featured faculty included Pamela Kunz, MD; Anil Nagar, MD; Kiran Turaga, MD, MPH; Samuel J. Klempner, MD; Scott Capozza; Vinay Rao, MD; and Natalie Smith.
Patients, caregivers, families, and members of the community who attended in person or virtually gained practical information about gastroesophageal cancer care while hearing perspectives that reflected both medical expertise and lived experience.
